Mark Born ADI Dip DI
With a background in training and
education for the last 10 years and driver training for the last 5
years, I decided to put all of my skills, knowledge and resources
into building a driver training school, that allows students to
learn to drive and understand their responsibilities for road
safety, the environment and social economical issues.
Having worked for a large
national driving school, I set up ARC Driver Training Centre in
November 2007, and have many satisfied customers who have gone on to
pass their driving tests, undertake additional training such as Pass
Plus or the BTEC in Driving Science and who still benefit from our
after sales service with our monthly news emails, which includes
road safety advice or procedures as well as additional offers and
promotions.

working with local driving schools I help develop and train driving
instructors, both with teaching skills and small business
development skills.

road driver training lessons for 11 to 17 year olds. Allowing
younger drivers to learn car control skills in a safe environment,
that prepares them for on road lessons and beyond.

Working as part of a national research program looking at how
learner drivers learn, with Dr Jonathon Passmore, the year
long study may contribute to the future of road safety.
My Professional
Development Record
On qualifying as an Approved Driving
Instructor, I passed three exams, a theory and hazard perception
test, an advanced driving test and a test of teaching ability for
which I was awarded a Grade 5 (grades range from 1 to 6, with 6
being the highest you can achieve). In order to ensure my high
standards of driving tuition are maintained I have a regular check
test with the Driving Standards Agency for which I again achieved a
Grade 5 in October 2008.
Now it is not necessary for driving
instructors to commit to undertaking additional training, however
with changing technology, legislation not to mention improvements in
teaching methods I think additional training is essential for
driving instructors who wish to provide the best possible service
rather than simply cheap lessons. I have therefore developed my
knowledge and skills since qualifying and will continue to do so.
