Driving Test Gold

3rd July 2011

The RoSPA advanced driving test is regarded as the most comprehensive and challenging available to the public with a grading of gold being the highest civilian driving standard available and the holder will be a master of his art. It will only be awarded to the driver who displays a complete understanding and appropriate application of the principles outlined in Roadcraft. With all this in place the gold standard driver will be able to make unobtrusive, planned, polished progress consistent with safety and the law.

So it is great news that Mark Born principle instructor at ARC Driver Training Centre was awarding gold after completing his RoSPA test this morning. The sixty minute test, took place in the heart of the Kent countryside, following narrow country lanes with speeds up to 60mph, testing advanced driving skills under the watchful examination of Police Driver and RoSPA Examiner David.

Joining the team of franchised driver coaches at Mercedes-Benz Driving Academy

1st July 2011

Just inside the M25 junction 10, there is a new breed of excellence in driver training and driver coaches at the Mercedes-Benz World complex. Boasting purpose build handling and track facilities, top of the range vehicles and an excellent product line up; Kids driving experiences, Pre-Road module, Licence module and Pass Plus3, the Driving Academy Coaches are leading the way in the future of driver training.

To join their team of professional driver coaches, Approved Driving Instructors have to have a higher level of skills and qualifications, the passion for better driver education and to be more than just traditional driving instructors. The recruitment process requires an initial application, a lengthy telephone interview, a driving assessment, a coaching assessment and then a panel interview process. Having succeeded to impress and being accepted into the team, Mark Born said;

"I was really pleased with the recruitment process, it demonstrated just how much the Mercedes-Benz Driving Academy care about the level of service and expertise they offer. When I think a lot of driver training organisations barely even meet their instructors before recruiting them for the school!"

The move does mean some changes are ahead for ARC Driver Training Centre, with the development of service standards within the existing course structure allowing learner drivers to have a greater range of choice in their driver training.

Keep up with the changes at ARC Driver Training Centre in the learning to drive and instructor development areas, as the website is updated towards the end of July.

Clean sheet pass for DIAmond Advanced Motorists Special Test

6th June 2011

For driving instructors the importance of having excellent driving knowledge and skills goes without saying and all Approved Driving Instructors have to pass a 'part two' advanced driving test with the Driving Standards Agency in order to start training new drivers and be listed on the ADI register.

DIAmond Advanced Motorists from the Driving Instructors Association have developed their driving tests to further improve on driving instructors initial basic training. With two levels 'advanced' and 'special' the driving test is carried out with an Advanced Driving Examiner and incorporates driving in town, country and on motorways and the completion of set reversing manoeuvres to a high professional standard. The special test last for 90 minutes and also requires the use of commentary whilst driving, with no more than three minor faults allowed and no repetition on driving faults.

ARC Driver Training Centre principle instructor completed his DIAmond Special Test with no minor faults.

"I often tell my pupils not to be nervous, not to worry about what the examiner may be thinking, but did find I was doing that at the start of the driving test. I soon realised this, settled down and really enjoyed the experience"

Passing the Special test now projects our owner Mark Born to Advanced Driving Instructor status, of which the other requirement is to complete a Diploma in Driving Instruction.
